What's in a Name?

The name Vidoc (We pronounce it "Vi-dock") is a deliberate stem of the last name of Eugène François Vidocq, recognized as many to be the father of modern investigation. Although he lived a somewhat colorful life, Vidocq is credited with having introduced record-keeping, criminology and ballistics to criminal investigation as well as the the first plainclothes detective agency.

The term "Razor" not only refers to the high-tech nature of what we do, but also to Ockham's Razor - a method of approach that serves well when evaluating the truth of a matter. You can read more here
